In the Netherlands there are specific rules for car styling accessories such as stoneguards, sun visors, frontbars, sidebars and rearbars.

These rules are there to ensure the safety of all road users:

Stoneguards: These are generally allowed, provided they do not obstruct the driver's visibility and do not have sharp edges that could be dangerous to pedestrians.

Sun visors: These are permitted as long as they do not significantly reduce the driver's visibility.

There are restrictions on how far they can protrude and how dark they can be.

Frontbars, sidebars and rearbars: Regulations on these are stricter for safety reasons: They must not have sharp edges. They must be securely attached to the vehicle. They must not protrude too far beyond the contours of the vehicle.

Additional rules apply to front bars because of pedestrian safety.

The difficulty of installing car styling products yourself varies depending on the specific product and your own skills:

Sun visors and stoneguards are generally easier to install and often require only basic tools.

Sidebars and rearbars can be a bit more challenging, but are usually still installable by a handy do-it-yourselfer.

They often require a bit more tools and possibly minor modifications to the vehicle.

Front bars can be more complex to install, especially if they need to be integrated with existing bumpers or other vehicle components.
